Our client is a world leader in the media field. It operates across Asia, Middle East, UK, Europe and North America. Our client owns/operates/distributes over 60 localised channels in 10 different languages. Its key business territories are: China, Taiwan, India, Indonesia and the Middle East.
It is currently seeking an experienced Commercial IP Lawyer to support its business in the Greater China region to be based in Hong Kong.
The role will involve:-
* Acquisition of content and channels from major and local movie and TV content suppliers
* Buy out content rights from content suppliers
* Production of content (original proprietary content or format shows), including contracts with production houses, format licensors, producers, directors, talent, composers, screenwriters
* Licensing out content to third parties for Pay TV and home entertainment services
* Other general media agreements and commercial agreements
* Other ad hoc projects particularly on Greater China and SEA regions
Applicants must have Hong Kong qualification or other common law jurisdiction (except Australia) for at least 5 years or Australia for over 7 years. Commensurate qualifications from US and UK also considered. Applicants must have Commercial IP contracts experience, a strong IP/ commercial technical background and preferably with at least 4 years firm training. Fluent Chinese language skills are essential for this role.
Experience in conducting regional business in Asia would be advantageous with an Interest in and adaptable to working in a fast-moving and competitive multi-cultural and multi-language context.
