An exciting opportunity for a dynamic Front Office Developer to join within one of the world’s fastest growing Investment Bank within the Emerging Markets Technology team.



Description

The primary duty of the role as part of Emerging Markets IT is to work with Traders, Analytics, Product Control and Risk Management teams on the ongoing development of the strategic risk platforms for the EM business and Market Object Builder (MOB), a new business-critical global application for Derivatives. The employee will be responsible for acting as business analyst and developer in support of the trading desk:

-Responsible for assisting in the integration of the MOB framework into the strategic front office trading systems

-Working alongside the traders, product controllers and EMG developers to understand the impact of migrating existing trading spreadsheets to use MOB and to develop new diagnostics and analytics tools

-Support current production trading books and applications

-Liaison with the Emerging Markets trading desk to understand complex business problems and business requirements for a variety of ongoing business-driven enhancements

-Understand the current applications and business processes, identify extensions and new functionality

-Carry out development efforts utilizing a wide variety of technologies on systems and feeds between spreadsheets, front office data stores, and back office channels

-Dealing with urgent trader requests and issue resolution

-Investigation into trade positions and analysis of the valuation models

-Interfacing with other IT departments, in particular Fixed Income IT and Derivatives IT, Product Control and Risk Measurement & Management to ensure that the work falls within the main overall IT strategy for the organization

-Gain an understanding of the derivative business and the trading processes

-Additional responsibilities such as assessment and prioritization of proposed development items, functional verification of delivered features, ad-hoc system bug analysis, and handling of “business as usual” requests



Qualifications

-A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, a Mathematical Science, Engineering or Computer Science is required. Graduate work in Finance, Mathematics or another Quantitative Science is preferred

-Candidates should have minimum 5 years of experience in Investment Banking - Fixed Income, Derivatives with 3 or more years in a front office development environment

-Minimum 3 years of development experience in Excel/VBA and C#

-Good understanding of the importance of good software development practices is vital

-Previous experience as a front office spreadsheet developer or risk system developer would be advantageous

-Ability to take ownership of issues and follow to resolution is important; as is an innovative approach and methodical analytical style of problem solving
