Job details This major international cost and project management consultant's seeks to establish functional capability and capacity to deliver a range of project management related roles and services in its business activity. The objective of the company is to provide a wide array of project management related services to our energy sector clients by specifically focusing on developing functional capability in Estimating, Planning & Scheduling. Then also Cost, Risk, Contracts, Project Management, Procurement, Construction Support Services and project close out on behalf of their global client base doing business in China.

They currently have a full time opportunity within their Contract Services team for an Associate Director/ Director designate based in their Beijing office. Knowledge of the Beijing and/ or China market and the capability to assist with developing business opportunities within the local market would be highly desirable.

They are seeking to build on the growth of this office and are looking for a self-starter who has local knowledge, contacts and business and has the confidence and ability to support the development of CS capability in the region. This could be at Associate Director or Director designate level.

Skills & Experience:

Professional membership e.g. RICS, CIOB, ICE, Law Society or regional equivalent required. Further memberships especially CIArb desirable.
Degree qualified, quantity surveying or other background in construction industry essential. Secondary qualifications (in law in particular) desirable.
Contract expertise – knowledge of contract approaches in China and East Asia.
Disputes experience: Previous UK, international and specifically Asia construction contracts and projects experience.
Consultancy experience desirable - i.e. proven client-facing track record and client management skills.
Chinese language competency highly desirable but not essential.

Role:

This role is to provide commercial and contractual advice at the outset and during the life of projects with a strong focus on the following:
Procurement
Contract Advice (including drafting)
Contract Risk Management
Claims Management
Case Management
Expert Witness
Reporting to, and working closely with, the Asia Director leading the development of Contract Services in the region, the successful candidate will be involved in the delivery and management of commissions in a range of sectors and across all our services.

Responsibilities:

Commission management and business development in the following areas:
Strategic procurement advice including the preparation of procurement strategies, procurement options and other strategic advice.
Contract drafting, negotiation and contract interpretation advice internally within T&T and to external clients.
Support commercial negotiations.
Advising on claims/disputes/contract requirements on live projects.
Preparation or support in the preparation of expert witness reports.
Delivery of service to other commission managers.
Client facing – business development, opportunity and commission management.
Support development and refinement of Contract Services products and services.
Ability to work collaboratively within a growing CS team.
Flexibility and willingness to work in all CS service areas.
Lead and support business development activities.
Interest in provision of a contracts training service desirable.
