Our Company has been retained confidentially to find a Director of Sales and Marketing (DSM) for a major division of a large privately held American company. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, successful sales executive with a strong track record of sales and marketing leadership in a consumer or B to B related environment or metal fabrication and assembly. The company headquarters are in Taiwan and the parent company is in Chicago, Illinois. Its products, sold worldwide, are based on wire grid, fabricated metal tubing and stampings.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Division General Manager, the DSM is responsible for providing business development leadership to drive the growth of the company’s business in Asia. This includes developing and maintaining effective sales relationships with existing and potential customers in China and elsewhere in Asia. Specific focus will be on targeted American-based retailers with a developing focus on European and Asian chains. This position will interface closely with USA marketing, research and development, and customer service professionals, and identified major account strategic partnerships and alliances.
Required Background
Ideal candidate is a seasoned sales executive with strong both tactical and strategic skill sets in China in metal and wire fabrication, ideally in industries serving retail and consumer product end users.
Must haves:
· Excellent Mandarin and English language skills, Cantonese fluency helpful
· Undergraduate engineering degree and an MBA
· A minimum of ten years of successful experience in progressive sales positions with at least five years of sales management experience
· Successful track record as a senior manager in the PRC with a western invested company
· Ideally, experience gained in the store fixture or related business and/or extensive merchandising and store planning background
· A thorough understanding of retail sales channels in Asia
· Knowledge of business practices in the Peoples Republic of China and other Asian countries
· A demonstrated track record of achieving results through the development and execution of formal sales plans and strategies consistent with the company’s overall goals and objectives
· Self confident team player with excellent leadership and multi-cultural skills
· Strong people management skills, record of job stability and promotion and upward potential
· Strong customer interface skills and experience with custom and new product development
Compensation
An attractive and competitive compensation and incentive package will be provided. Note that this is not an expatriate position or package; it is a local hire resident position. Relocation within China will be considered. Housing in Zhong Shan may be provided.
