C-Level China has been retained confidentially to find a Director of Lean Manufacturing (DLM) for a major division of a large privately held American company. This is an excellent opportunity to leverage your lean manufacturing skills gained in a B to B manufacturing environment or metal fabrication and assembly. The company headquarters are in Taiwan and the parent company is in Chicago, Illinois. Its products are sold worldwide.
The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Division General Manager, the DLM is responsible for providing business development leadership to the creation, implementation and management of the division’s lean process improvement program, including the deployment of training and other duties that will enhance organizational efficiency and support a culture of continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
Required Background:
Ideal candidate is a seasoned lean manufacturing, 6-sigma Black Belt with a strong track record of causing tactical and strategic process improvements in metal and wire fabrication, ideally in industries serving retail and consumer product end users. Should come from a “marquee” company noted for its high level of competency in these techniques.
Must haves:
• BS/BA in industrial or manufacturing engineering, MBA helpful
• 7-10+ years successful track record in the PRC as a senior process improvement manager with a western invested manufacturing company
• Excellent Mandarin and English language skills, Cantonese fluency helpful
• Skilled at implementing improvements through lean manufacturing techniques and quality systems
• Knowledge of fabricated metal and mixed material processes including plating, powder coating and metal surface treatment or related industries
• Self confident team player with excellent leadership and multi-cultural skills
• Strong people management skill and facilitation skills, record of job stability, promotion and upward potential
• High degree of integrity and determination to produce quality products
• Creative, flexible and able to inspire others to improve
• Ability to interface and communicate verbally as well as written with cross-functional personnel and co-workers, including design, manufacturing and quality engineering, supply chain management and supplier representatives.
