The Worldtrade Management Services (WMS) Trade & Customs Senior Manager will have the responsibility to serve clients and the firm in the following areas:

§ Provide advisory services to clients on a wide range of China import / export related issues including Customs valuation, classification of goods, processing trade, duty free importation, and special customs zones

§ Assist clients who are undergoing investigation or audit with technical customs issues and interaction with Customs

§ Assist clients in negotiation with China Customs and other authorities on a wide range of issues

§ Lead business development efforts for North China

§ Lead internal and external training, awareness, and business development campaigns

§ Manage all aspects of financial and risk management for WMS in North China

§ Lead and manage the existing team of customs and trade consultants based in Beijing

Requirements

* Several years of China related customs and trade experience with industry in a multinational corporation; or from advisory, with an international law firm, public accounting firm, or consulting firm
* Strong knowledge of China Customs, AQSIQ and MOFTEC regulations and practice related to all aspects of import and exportation including both general and processing trade
* Strong knowledge of WTO customs valuation rules, the Harmonized System code and preferential/non-preferential Rules of Origin (free trade agreements).
* A working knowledge of China customs and trade special zones and programs such as the Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone
* The ability to deliver concise advice on technical customs and trade issues to non-customs personnel
* The ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize responsibilities, and lead a diverse team
* The ability to understand, evaluate and apply complex technical concepts in the context of commercial realities
* Ability to communicate effectively with both foreign and local clients on technical customs issues
* Fluent in English and Chinese, both written and spoken
* A university business degree – preferably in economics, law, taxation or equivalent would be desirable
* A CPA, Chartered Accountant, Licensed Customs Broker or advanced law degree would also be welcomed
